3.1 Prepare Your Bicycle
- Ensure your bicycle is clean and stable, preferably mounted on a repair stand.
- Remove the existing front wheel from your bicycle.
- Inspect the front fork dropouts to ensure they are compatible with the hub motor axle (10 mm diameter). Steel forks may require filing if the axle does not fit, but exercise caution to avoid damage. Aluminum forks can also be filed with extra caution.
3.2 Install the Front Wheel Hub Motor
- Carefully insert the hub motor wheel into the front fork dropouts.
- Ensure the motor cable exits on the correct side and is not pinched.
- Secure the wheel using the provided nuts and washers. Tighten them firmly to prevent the wheel from shifting during operation.
- Install the torque arm on the axle to prevent it from spinning out of the dropouts under motor power.
3.3 Install the Controller and Wiring
- Mount the controller in a secure and protected location on your bike frame, typically near the battery.
- Connect the motor cable to the controller. The waterproof connectors are designed for easy and secure attachment.
- Route all cables neatly along the frame using the provided cable ties. Ensure cables do not interfere with moving parts (wheels, pedals, steering) or get pinched.
3.4 Install Display, Throttle, and Brake Levers
- Attach the display to your handlebar in a position that is easily visible and accessible.
- Install the throttle on the handlebar.
- Replace your existing brake levers with the provided brake levers, which include motor cut-off sensors. These sensors ensure the motor disengages when brakes are applied, enhancing safety. If you prefer to use your own brakes, the kit will still operate without the provided brake levers.
- Install the Pedal-Assist System (PAS) sensor near the bottom bracket. Ensure the magnet ring is correctly aligned with the sensor for proper function.
