Before beginning any tests, ensure you have all components of the HTH 6-Way Test Kit readily available. This includes the test block, reagent bottles for each parameter, and the instruction manual. Store the kit in a cool, dark place to maintain the integrity of the reagents. Replace the kit yearly for optimal accuracy.

For best results, test and balance your pool water weekly. Always collect water samples from at least 18 inches below the pool surface, away from jets or return lines, to ensure a representative sampле.
General Testing Procedure (for Chlorine, Bromine, pH)
- Rinse the test cells with pool water before use.
- Dip the test cells 18 inches below the pool surface to collect water.
- Add the specified number of drops of the appropriate reagent to each cell (e.g., 5 drops of OTO for Total Chlorine/Bromine, 5 drops of Phenol Red for pH).
- Cap the cells and shake gently to mix.
- Compare the resulting color in the test cells to the color chart on the test block or kit packaging.
- Record your results and adjust chemicals as needed.
Specific Tests and Ideal Levels
- Total Chlorine / Bromine: Tests for the sanitizer level. Ideal Chlorine: 1-4 ppm. Ideal Bromine: 2-6 ppm.
- pH: Measures acidity/alkalinity. Ideal pH: 7.2-7.8.
