  • The emitter is powered by a lithium battery, and the receiver uses a 9V battery.

  • Remove batteries from both the emitter and receiver if the device will not be used for a long time to prevent battery leakage.
  • Do not connect the device to live circuits exceeding the protection voltage (e.g., 220V mains).
  • Avoid operating on communication lines during thunderstorms to prevent lightning strikes and ensure personal safety.

4.2. Тэставанне PoE

This function automatically tests Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches. It identifies the PoE type, standard, voltage, and polarity.

  1. Connect one end of the network cable to the PoE port on the emitter.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to the PoE switch.
  3. The emitter's screen will display the PoE information, including the power supply type (Endspan/Midspan/8-core), IEEE standard (802.3af/at), and voltage.

4.3. Continuity Testing (Wiremap)

This function tests for open circuits, short circuits, and cross-connections in STP and UTP cables.

  1. Connect one end of the network cable to the 'CONT' port on the emitter.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to the RJ45 port on the remote unit.
  3. Press 'OK' on the emitter to start the test.
  4. The screen will display the wire sequence (R: 1-8, M: 1-8) and indicate any faults (open, short, cross) or a 'Good condition'.

4.4. Length Measurement

This function measures the length of LAN cables (CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, STP & UTP).

  1. Connect one end of the network cable to the 'Length/Flash' port on the emitter.
  2. Ensure the other end of the cable is disconnected (open circuit).
  3. Navigate to the 'Length' function on the emitter and press 'OK' to start.
  4. The screen will display the cable length. The measurement range is 2.5m to 200m with an accuracy of ±1.6m.

Important Reminders for Length Measurement:

  • The LAN cable to be tested must be de-energized.
  • Disconnect the cable at the far end; no remote or other devices should be connected.
  • The range must be 2.5m-120m; otherwise, it will display 0 meter.

4.5. Cable Scan (Wire Tracking)

This function helps locate LAN cables using digital, analog, or PoE modes.

  1. Connect the network cable to be traced to the 'SCAN' port on the emitter.
  2. On the emitter, select the desired scan mode (Digital, Analog, or PoE) from the main menu.
  3. Ensure the receiver's mode switch (Analog/Digital) matches the emitter's selected mode.
  4. Use the receiver to trace the cable. The signal strength will increase as you get closer to the target cable.
  5. Adjust the receiver's sensitivity dial for optimal performance.

4.6. Port Flash / Link Test

This function helps locate a network port by making its indicator light flash on a switch or router.

  1. Connect one end of the network cable to the 'Length/Flash' port on the emitter.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to the target switch or router.
  3. Select the 'Flash' function on the emitter.
  4. Observe the indicator lights on the switch/router. The port connected to the emitter will flash, helping to identify it.

4.7. NCV (Безкантактны Voltagд) Функцыя

The receiver is equipped with an NCV function for accurate and safer electricity measurement.

  • Slide the receiver's mode switch to NCV.
  • Bring the tip of the receiver close to an AC power source or live wire. The NCV indicator light will illuminate, and an audible alarm will sound if voltagе выяўляецца.

  • Press the Light button on the emitter to toggle the backlight.

  • The NF-8209 can effectively detect any cable, even if it's not connected to anything, making it useful for identifying loose ends.
  • The cable length measurement function is highly accurate, especially when used correctly by ensuring the cable is de-energized and disconnected at the far end.
  • When using the cable scan function, ensure the receiver's mode (Digital, Analog) matches the emitter's selected mode for optimal signal detection.
  • For wiremap testing over long distances (up to 200 meters), the device can still function effectively even if the emitter and remote are in different rooms, as long as both ends are connected to the cable.
  • The device can show the distance to a break for each individual wire within a cable, which is very helpful for precise fault location.
